Blogging Weekly to Stay Productive

What to talk about today? Honestly, I have nothing. So why am I here with a blog post if I have nothing? In trying to make goals for the year, I decided to be more active on here. I want to write and post more. Why? Because I enjoy doing this.

Sometime ago, I began a blog under a different name with a different focus. My goal was to post weekly. I’d read somewhere that when doing an author blog, that was a good pace to go at.

When I started that now neglected blog, that’s what I did. I sat down and wrote something, anything, once a week and posted it. To my surprise, I lasted longer at it than I thought I would. I think I had even picked a day to post. Maybe it was Monday or Wednesday? I don’t remember. I could check, but I can’t be bothered right now. It’s not really important.

What is important is I’d stuck to the weekly blogging for some time and I enjoyed the heck out of it. In fact, if I’d became busy during the week and it came time to post something, I’d drop everything and write something up in a frenzy just so I could get it out so I could stick to my weekly deadline.

Back to Weekly Blogging? Maybe

My first post on this blog was April 17, 2020. I realized last month that I’d only posted 56 times on this site total since then. When I started this blog, I had the intention of posting weekly, if not more. Obviously, that did not happen.

Sometimes it’s hard to think of something to say. Or I start a post and think, “Who the hell wants to read this mindless dribble?” Then scrap what I was working on and move along with my life.

As I looked at that number of 56 and how many years this blog has been live, I realized that if I’d blogged weekly, like I intended, that number would be significantly higher. Actually, 56 posts are a little over a year’s worth of posts if I had posted weekly. Yet it’d taken me four years to get that number.

More Productivity, Please

As I was looking at what I wanted to achieve this year, I thought, I really should try to get at least 52 blog posts up this year. If anything, it would be good practice for writing other things. As I’ve said before, writing a blog post often gets my creative juices flowing for working on my fiction.

Speaking of fiction, I wrote this post as I was taking a small break from editing my current story. The story is pretty much done, except for some tweaks to the ending and going over it again to make it look like a coherent adult may have written it. Can’t guarantee the latter, but I try.

The point is, I want to be way more productive this year. I want to write, and gosh darn it, that’s what I’m going to do. Even if I don’t have an idea for something. I will write anyway.

Huh? What?

Is that possible?

Yes, because that is exactly how this post came about. I looked at the calendar and thought, “Gee, if I’m going to post something weekly, I really need to write something.” So I opened up the ye old plain text editor and just started typing.

I, myself, need this reminder that writing begets writing. So idea or not, I better get to it. If you are a writer, remember that - writing begets writing. I often forget this minor fact.

So as of now, I plan on posting something at least weekly to this site and see how many posts I get in this year. Will I make it? I dunno. Guess you will have to keep coming back to see if I do or not.

Normally, I don’t like stating goals like this publicly. That way, if I fail, no one knows it but me. However, I really needed something to write about this week, so here I am.

I’m looking forward to a year of weekly blog posts. It will be interesting to see if I can maintain this output or not. Even more interesting are the things I might come up with to write about.

One last note. . . As I said above, I’m in the final stages of a new story. If all goes well, it should be out next week. Posting about a new release will count as my weekly post. 😃 Just saying.

New Release - Beach Fling with the Biker

Another new release is here! Beach Fling with the Biker is live! The last thing I needed was the temptation of a hot biker who takes my mind off everything but him. . . Alexa A week alone on the beach. That’s all I wanted. A week to figure out how to escape my father’s accounting firm that he expects me to take over one day. Except, a reservation screw up ends my alone time. Now, I’m sharing it with a god of a man who rode in on a bike. I’m supposed to be figuring my life out, not obsessing over a hot biker I won’t ever see again when the week is over. Would I risk my father’s wrath for a man I barely know? Or could this biker be the life path I’ve been searching for? Damon All I wanted was a week alone on the beach. One last time to live wild and free before I take on responsibilities my family is pressuring me into. Only a reservation screw up has me staying with a woman who wears loud shirts and tempts me like no other. By the end of the week, I’ll have to make a choice. Do I r...

New Release - Guard My Body

Another new release! I'd hoped to have this one out by the end of June, but it just didn't work out that way. Hot weather set in, which always makes me a bit lethargic. Then there was a holiday. While I didn't have big plans for the Fourth of July this year, I took it a little easy and enjoyed the holiday. With that said, I present to you: Guard My Body - A Short Bodyguard Romance I had a lot of fun writing this one. I can only hope you have just as much fun reading it. Enjoy!   A dive bar, a broken elevator, and a man hotter than any fantasy. What could go wrong? Madison Being a writer is not at all what I thought it would be. Writing about crappy restaurants and dumpy hotels is not the life I imagined. Then again, I get stuck in a hotel elevator with a man hotter than sin. Who turns out to be interested in me. Except, it is just my luck to lose him as quickly as I found him. Will I ever see him again? Considering my bad luck, I doubt it. Jackson One unpleasant job ...

Blogs - Why I Love Them and Why I Want to Do More

I like blogs. I read several almost daily. Most of the ones I read are by authors, but I read other kinds of blogs as well. Some blogs have helped me. For example, when I decided knitting a pair of socks was a great idea, I found a blog to help me figure out the stitches for the heel of the sock. Or when I decided to dual boot my laptop with Linux, while retaining Windows. Although, I'm not sure why, I've never really logged into my Windows partition. Oh well. The point is the info on a blog was there to help me. As some of you know I'm not big on social media. I've never understood Facebook and honestly, I'm not sure I ever will. To some extent I do, but mostly I don't. I feel like everybody is shouting, "Hey, look at me, and here's my views on this and that, today I'm upset at this other thing, and oh by the way this is what I had for breakfast with photos." I can live my life without that madness. Once upon a time, I did try to be active o...
